Problem:
Some partners have reported an issue reinstalling or installing the Liongard Agent on a Windows Server with the following error:
“Service Liongard agent (roaragent.exe) failed failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privilege's to start the system services”.
Typically, this indicates a permissions issues, but in some cases the following error can be found in the Windows Event logs:
“Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentException: The source 'LiongardAgentSVC' is not registered in log 'LiongardAgentLog'. (It is registered in log 'Application'.) The Source and Log properties must be matched, or you may set Log to the empty string, and it will automatically be matched to the Source property.”
Steps to Resolution
Open the Windows REgistry Editor.
Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\.
Look for an entry named “LiongardAgentSVC”.
Export “LiongardAgentSVC” to a familiar folder location. (This is a precautonary measure, if a new issue arises, try restoring this registry value. Otherwise, it’s fine to delete this.)
Delete the “LiongardAgentSVC” registry entry from “HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application\”.
Try the installation again.
Outcome: The agent install should be successful now and your agent should land in your Liongard platform.
Alternatives: If this does not resolve your issue, please verify the account used to install the Liongard Agent has sufficient permissions on the system. If you are still having issues, please open a case with our support team.
