When accessing Visual Insights, you may experience one of the following:
A completely blank dashboard landing page
No dashboards listed under View All Dashboards
Dashboards expected by your team are missing
This behavior is expected in most cases and is typically related to how dashboard templates work in Visual Insights.
Visual Insights uses prebuilt templates to create dashboards. Dashboards are not automatically created for every tenant. Instead, dashboards must be manually applied from the Template Gallery.
Why Does This Happen? 🤔
1. Dashboards Are Template-Based (Not Auto-Created)
Visual Insights dashboards only exist after a template has been applied.
If no templates have been applied yet:
The Visual Insights page may appear blank
No dashboards will be listed
This is normal behavior for:
New tenants
Newly enabled Visual Insights instances
Users accessing Visual Insights for the first time
2. Changes to Default Dashboard Behavior
Earlier versions of Visual Insights included a small set of dashboards that appeared automatically for early adopters.
Visual Insights now follows a template-first model:
Dashboards are created only when a template is applied
There is no fixed or guaranteed number of default dashboards
Tenants may start with zero dashboards until templates are added
3. Templates Exist, but Dashboards Have Not Been Applied
The Template Gallery contains 250+ templates, organized by category, including:
Featured Templates
Popular Templates
Dashboard Templates
Widget Templates
If templates have not been applied:
Dashboards will not appear under Visual Insights
This can be mistaken for “missing dashboards”
4. Dashboards Appear but Show No Data
Some dashboards may appear empty after being applied. This usually happens when:
Required inspectors (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure) have not completed an inspection
Default filters do not match your environments or data
The dashboard depends on metrics that are not yet available
In these cases, the dashboard exists, but there is no data to display yet.
How to Add Dashboards from the Template Gallery 👨💻
Follow the steps below to apply dashboard templates and resolve missing dashboards.
Step 1: Navigate to Visual Insights
Log in to your Liongard instance
From the top menu, click Reporting
In the Visual Insights banner, click View All Dashboards
Step 2: Open the Template Gallery
In the left-hand side menu, open Data Settings
Select Template Gallery
Choose Liongard → Browse Templates
You will now see the full Template Gallery.
Step 3: Browse or Search for Templates
In the Template Gallery, you can:
Scroll through available templates
Use search to find specific dashboards
Filter by category
Template categories include:
Featured Templates
Popular Templates
Dashboard Templates
Widget Templates
Step 4: Apply a Dashboard Template
Click the dashboard template you want to add
Review the template preview
Click Apply
Click Apply again on the preview page
When prompted, click Continue on the Update Dependencies pop-up
Step 5: Access the Newly Added Dashboard
Click Dashboards in the left-hand menu
Select your newly added dashboard from the list
The dashboard is now active and available in Visual Insights.
Step 6: Repeat as Needed
Repeat the above steps for any additional dashboards you want to add.
Each dashboard template only needs to be applied once per instance.
Additional Notes 🗒️
Dashboards persist until manually deleted
Templates only need to be applied once
Custom dashboards can be created at any time
Some dashboards require specific inspectors to have completed at least one inspection
Dashboard data reflects the latest inspection results, not real-time data
